Thera-PRE for Parents and Families.
Finding the right therapist for your family can be an incredibly sensitive and vulnerable experience. Each individual in the family has specific needs and preferences for their mental health and trying to find the appropriate care for each person can be difficult to coordinate—especially when all folks are not on board.
Pre-therapy counseling for parents and families supports those who are seeking therapy for their household (as a unit or for multiple people individually) but need more information or guidance for their next step. Depending on the size of your family and scope of the challenges, we may need to meet several times to get everyone on the same page for approaching the family’s mental health care and supporting one other’s needs.
Each session will run for 50-minutes and be billed as a 60-minute session. This is a standard therapy practice, called the “50-minute Hour,” that gives therapists time to write clinical notes and/or prepare for their next session. Often, therapists use their clinical judgment to decide whether or not to use the whole appointment time as needed given the context of the session.
